Daniel Yoon (Flute)

Daniel is currently attending Bellarmine College Preparatory as part of class of 2024. He has been playing the flute since the age of 10 and has participated in school bands as well as San Jose Youth Symphony and California Youth Symphony.
Next year he plans to be apart of California Philharmonic Youth Orchestra and continue his flute career. He has part taken in CMEA Solo and CMEA state receiving superior and command performance ratings.
He also takes joy in playing the drums being part of the percussion class at Bellarmine. Outside of playing music, Daniel really loves to play football and video games with his friends.
Continuing his football career next year, he plans to keep up his physicality and athleticism. He also loves to be involved in community service and volunteering as he has earned awards from his church as well as the Presidential Service Award.

Olivia Park (Flute)

Olivia Park (Flute)

Olivia Park is a sophomore at Archbishop Mitty High School where she leads the flute section in the Wind Ensemble and plays alto sax in the Jazz Band for school events. During her freshman year, Olivia was selected into All-State High School Wind Symphony after previously participating in the All-State Junior High Symphonic Band. She received Superior/Exemplary ratings for her performance at the CMEA State Solo and Ensemble Festival. Outside of school, Olivia was the principal flutist at KAMSA and HopeBox Youth Orchestra as well as California Youth Symphony Associate Orchestra. She was also a featured soloist at the 2023 CYS Spring Festival Concert as a winner of the Concerto Competition. She will start playing for the CYS Senior Orchestra in the fall. On the stage, Olivia won 1st place at the ENKOR International Music Competition, Grand Prize at the Silicon Valley Music Competition, and was a runner-up at the KAMSA Young Artist Competition. In addition to flute, Olivia studied piano and was invited to perform at the MTAC State Convention upon receiving the branch and state honors at the advanced level Certificate of Merit test. Last but not least, Olivia is an avid Taekwondo athlete with a 2nd degree black belt. She has won several California and National Championships, and actively volunteers as a junior instructor at her Taekwondo studio.

Hyeongjoo Ham (Clarinet)

Hyeongjoo Ham (Clarinet)

Hyeongjoo (Jayden) Ham, 16, is a junior clarinetist at Saratoga High School. Jayden started playing clarinet at age 11 and currently studies with his teacher Hye Min Yun.

Jayden, since his freshman year, is the principal clarinetist of the San Jose Youth Symphony and also plays clarinet for the Korean American Music Supporters Association Orchestra. Jayden has attended the All State Honor Band for four years, and this year he was the principal clarinetist. Jayden has also participated in the Santa Clara County Honor Band for two years, and he was the principal clarinetist this year. In school, Jayden plays clarinet for the Symphonic Wind Ensemble and Saratoga Symphony Orchestra.

Jayden has won numerous awards in competitions, such as first place in the American Fine Arts Festival, prizes from the Silicon Valley Music Competition, and awards from the Korean American Music Supporters Association Competition.

Outside of clarinet, Jayden enjoys playing piano, as he was the soloist for the winter percussion group in his freshmen year. He loves to visit art museums, craft, and travel to new places. He is the lead officer for the organization Music Education from Saratoga High, a non-profit organization dedicated to mentoring middle schoolers and encouraging their passion in music.

Jayden is extremely grateful for his family, friends, the music department, Mr. Shiuan, Mr. Boitz, and especially his clarinet teacher Hye Min Yun, for their full unconditional support in Jayden’s passion for music and clarinet.

Yijin Chong (Clarinet)

Yijin Chong is a sophomore at Archbishop Mitty High School where he is a member of the Wind Ensemble. From the age of 11, he has been studying with the instructor Hye Min Yun.
Previously, he participated in All State Honor Band in 2021, and Santa Clara Honor Band in 2022. In addition to playing clarinet, Yijin has been playing piano with the guidance of Soyeon Kim since the age of 9. In the year 2022 and 2023, he achieved the Silicon Valley Music Competition Honors Circle.
Yijin strives to grow as a musician and an individual by engaging in diverse music communities, whether it be participating in July 4th Band, performing in senior centers, or engaging in a tech media team behind the scene. Besides his interests in music, he actively engages in various community art projects through Youth of Suha Suha, develops his skills in archery, enjoys playing golf, and immerses himself in reading a plethora of literature.

Andrew Kim (Oboe & English Horn)

Andrew Kim (Oboe & English Horn)

Andrew Kim is a sophomore at Branham High School. He has been playing oboe since 5th grade and piano since 2nd grade. Additionally, he plays English horn and is learning alto saxophone. He is currently in the Branham High School Wind Ensemble and Pep Band. Besides school, Andrew participates in the Senior Orchestra of CPYO (California Philharmonic Youth Orchestra) as the assistant oboe principal player. In addition, he was accepted into the California All-State Honor Band for three consecutive years and the Santa Clara County Honor Band for a year. Besides the oboe, Andrew played piano, passing CM level 10 with a state honor award.
Furthermore, he placed 3rd in the Classical category in the US International Open Music Competition and International Music Competition of the Best Beethoven Performance. He has been a short-track speed skater since first grade. He participated in numerous races and was awarded 2nd place in the California State Championship. He holds a Fundamental Coach Certificate for speed skating. Alongside music, he enjoys Robotics and Rubik’s cubing.

Eileen Kim is a sophomore at Mountain View High School. She began playing violin and piano at the age of 8 and currently studies violin with Mr. Byungwoo Kim.
Eileen is currently a member of California Philharmonic Youth Orchestra and co-concertmaster at her high school. She also played in KAMSA Orchestra and HopeBox Youth Orchestra in 2022. Besides violin, she enjoys playing piano as well. She performed in the MTAC public piano concert in 2018 and won the 1st prize in SF International Innovative Competition in 2022. Other than music, Eileen likes to read, draw, and hang with friends in her spare time.

Peter Yoon is a sophomore at Leland High School. He began to play the violin at the age of 8 and is currently studying under Mr. Byung-Woo Kim.

He has won several music competitions since 5th grade such as the Silicon Valley Music Competition, Bay Area Music Association Competition, and the US Open Music Competition.

He is currently concertmaster in the California Philharmonic Youth Associate Orchestra and he joined Leland Chamber Orchestra this year. And he will work as a volunteer at the Academy of Music and Arts for Special Education(AMASE) starting this fall. In his spare time, he likes to play games and hang out with his friends.

Brian Choi is a sophomore at Los Altos High School. He started playing the violin at the age of 9 and currently studies with Davis Law. He attended the San Francisco Conservatory of Music for the last two years and is a member of the California Youth Symphony Senior Orchestra. Brian was the concertmaster of the 2020-2021 Yongsan International School of Seoul orchestra and a member of the Tri-M Music Honor Society. He also participated in the Korea International Music Educators Association festival and placed 2nd at the 2021 City Philharmonic Orchestra Music Concours in South Korea. Over summers, Brian has attended the Summer Music Institute at Tateuchi Hall and Davis Young Artists Chamber Ensemble. Aside from violin, Brian also plays for his school’s varsity tennis team and enjoys math and coding.

Hanz Baek (Violin)

Hanz Baek, an accomplished violinist and concertmaster for the California Philharmonic Youth Associate Orchestra (CPYO) during the 2022-2023 season, is currently a freshman at The Harker School, class of 2027. He embarked on his musical journey at the age of 7, learning the violin under the expert guidance of Byung Woo Kim. He achieved first place in the 2022 San Francisco International Music Innovation Competition (SFIMIC) and received Superior ratings at both the 2022 Virtual Spring Music Festival and the Virtual Solo Festival held by the California Music Educators Association (CMEA). He won the 2022 CPYO concerto competition. His musical prowess was further recognized when he was named the California State winner in the 2023 OPUS Music Competition. Additionally, Hanz was selected to perform with the Junior High California All-State Orchestra in both 2022 and 2023. Hanz's performances at the 2023 Junior Bach Festival and the 2023 CMEA State Solo and Ensemble Festival showcased his remarkable abilities, earning him a Command Performance Award at the CMEA event.

Beyond music, Hanz excels in archery. He enjoys participating in archery competitions at both the national and international levels, showcasing his talent and dedication

David Kim (Viola)

David Kim (Viola)

David Kim, 16, is a junior at Saratoga High School and has studied viola under his instructor, Yunsun Kim, since he was six. David has been awarded in various competitions such as KAMSA (Korean American Music Supporters’ Association), The Northern California Viola Society Competition, USIMC, American Protégé International Competition, and many more. He has also contributed in several ensembles, chamber groups, and orchestras including CASMEC’s California All-State String and Symphonic Orchestra, KAMSA orchestra, SVYS (Silicon Valley Youth Symphony), MUSE (Music and Us Serves Everyone) Ensemble, and several others. Aside from his competition and orchestral experiences, David participates in various volunteering activities ranging from his local senior centers to his school’s MESH (Music Education with Saratoga High) program. In addition, David had the opportunity to perform at Carnegie Hall and traveled along with his school’s SSO (Saratoga Symphony Orchestra) throughout Europe to perform in various prestigious music halls including the Musikverein, Smetana Hall, and many more. Outside of music, David enjoys playing archery to which he was placed in various local, state, national, and international tournaments.

Michelle Choi is a junior in Cupertino High School. She played piano for five years, but switched in the viola at age 10 under Yunsun Kim. She participated in the 2021 Junior All-State Orchestra, as well as passing the audition for the 2021 Kamsa Orchestra. She was principle player at Sam H. Lawson Middle School and played at the Silicon Valley Youth Orchestra. Outside of music, Michelle enjoys reading and playing games with her friends.

Lucas choi is part of the class of 2025 at Archbishop Mitty High School. Under the tutelage of Mrs. Kyong Hwa Kim, he started playing the cello when he was 8 years old and is currently in the California Philharmonic Youth Orchestra. In 2023, Lucas participated in the California All-State HS Symphony Orchestra. Furthermore, he is in his school's orchestra. He received first place in competitions such as the American Fine Arts Festival Concerto Competition. He placed in the US International Music Competition, American Protégé International Music Talent Competition, and the Silicon Valley Music Competition. In 2022, he also performed a solo at Carnegie Hall. When he’s not doing cello, Lucas also likes to play piano which he has placed in several competitions such as the US International Open Music Competition, the Music Legacy Open Competition, and the United States Open Music Competition while earning the certificate of merit level 10 in with state and branch honors. He also likes to be involved with the community by being a member of the Academy of Music and Arts for Special Education where he participates in helping kids with special needs in learning music and art.

Brandon is a junior at Los Gatos High School. He started studying the cello with Mrs. Kyeong Hwa Kim almost 4 years ago. Since then, he has participated in various music activities. He has also performed with Los Gatos High School Chamber Orchestra, and CPYO Associate and Senior Orchestras. Brandon won a place in CASMEC California All-state Orchestra in 2022 and he has also won top awards at numerous local and international music competitions. He has been volunteering as a cello teacher at AMASE to help special-need children with music lessons for the last two years. Outside of music, Brandon enjoys sports.

Steven Yoon is currently a sophomore at Leland High School. He has been playing the cello since the age of 9 under the teachings of Kyeoung Hwa Kim.
Steven has won numerous awards in music competitions, including the American Fine Arts Festival Golden Era of Romantic Music Competition, US International open music competition(BAMA), Silicon Valley Music Competition, USOMC, American Protégé International Concerto Competition, and Junior Bach Festival. Steven is a member of the California Philharmonic Youth Orchestra for the last 4 years, and served as Principal cellist in the Associate Orchestra last year and has won the CPYO solo concerto competition this year. In addition, Steven participated in the CASMEC All-State Honors Orchestra this year. He is also a member of Leland High School Chamber Orchestra since last year.
Apart from competing, Steven enjoys serving people through music. He is a member of AMASE, a student-founded non-profit organization that provides music and art education to individuals with special needs. He also volunteers for different organizations such as Second Harvest Food Bank and Animal Assisted Happiness provides access to barnyard buddies so children and their family members can 'experience the smiles only animals can bring'.
Besides music, Steven enjoys playing sports, listening to music, building model cars and hanging out with friends.

Ian Kim, age 16, is a junior at Saratoga High School. He has been actively playing the double bass for 7 years since the third grade and studies under the guidance of Bruce Moyer. Ian is currently the principal bass player of the Saratoga High School Symphony Orchestra and Saratoga Strings. Besides from school, he participates in numerous ensembles and orchestras such as the California Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, KAMSA orchestra, and more, all of which he has also earned the principal position in. As a freshman, Ian was able to achieve the title of principal player for the California All State Symphony High School Orchestra and has won the Saratoga High School Concerto Competition. In his free time, Ian enjoys watching movies and playing volleyball with his friends.

Junwoo (John) Lee is a junior at Santa Teresa high school. He played piano since he was 9. He passed level 9 on the CM test for the piano in 2023. He got 2nd place for piano solo for the Silicon Valley Music Competition 2023 and honors circle for the ensemble. In 2022, he got honors circle for piano solo and 3rd for ensemble in the Silicon Valley Music Competition. John has also won several awards from art competitions such as the honorable mention award for the scholastic art competition. In his free time, he likes to play badminton and is on the varsity team at Santa Teresa.

Violet Hong is a Junior and the class of 2025 at Valley Christian High School. Violet started learning piano at the age of 10. She has joined praise teams at her church in both Korea and the US with her piano skills. She has won awards from several music competitions including the silicon valley music competition and the crescendo music competition where she got the honor and privilege to perform in Carnegie Hall. Also, she has played the violin since 2016. She is a member of the VCHS String Ensemble for 2 years. In her free time, she enjoys listening to music and playing games.
